There are 4 local Primary Schools and a County High School in Penketh with additional High Schools and Primary Schools in the surrounding villages of Great Sankey and Old Hall.

Children are well catered for with 2 sets of playing fields and children's play facilities at Withenshaw recreation ground near Kwik-Save on Warrington Road and at Greystone Heath, next to Greystone Road.

Penketh's main shopping area is at Honiton Square, and there are also many smaller groups of shops scattered around the village, selling a wide range of products from sportswear and shoes to Hamsters and Gold Fish. If you require more shopping facilities there are Super Stores at Westbrook, Widnes and Warrington Town Centre. Warrington also has many Shops in and around the Golden Square shopping Precinct and a large Market just off Bridge Street. Being close to the motorway network Manchester, Liverpool and Chester are all within easy reach of Penketh for a quick shopping trip.

Penketh has 2 Dentists and a chiropodist, along with a Pharmacy on Honiton Square. Penketh shares a Police station with Great Sankey with the nearest Fire Station now being situated in Warrington.

Penketh has its own Boat Yard and Marina on The Sankey Canal at Fidlers Ferry, this provides easy access to the River Mersey along with boat building and maintenance facilities, there are also picnic benches for a relaxing summer picnic.

There are many scenic walks in Penketh around the surrounding fields and through the new nature reserve on the old site of Gate Warth Waste disposal ground.
